Registration Process

The registration process consists of three steps. You must have a valid email address to register your new student. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for providing all required documents to complete the registration process. If once you have completed your student's New Student Registration in the Enrolment Portal, The System will verify that it has been submitted. If more information is needed, someone from your student's school will reach out to you. Please note that the Ellensburg School District has Attendance Boundaries for grades K-5. School assignments are based on address.

Kindergarten Students

The Ellensburg School District has Full Day Kindergarten for all students at each of our four elementary schools. If your child will be five years old on or before August 31st of the school year in which you are enrolling them, he/she is eligible to start Kindergarten for that school year. Preschool Students and Transitional Kindergarten

If your child is under the age of 5 Prior to August 31st, Ellensburg School District offers addition early learning opportunities. For information regarding those programs, please contact Juli Hamilton juli.hamiltion@esd401.org or 509-925-8090.

For children who are not yet Kindergarten age and have been receiving special education services on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) such as speech therapy or developmental preschool, please contact the District's Special Education office at (509) 925-8117. After special education eligibility has been confirmed, you will be given registration and enrollment information.

Transfer & Waiver Process

  • Ellensburg School District resident students in grades K-5 who wish to attend a school other than their resident school must complete and submit/upload the appropriate Intra-District Transfer Application. Students new to the district must register for their assigned school first before submitting a Transfer Request Form. Forms should be submitted to their assigned school for consideration.

  • The Ellensburg School District allows for students living outside the district to request a waiver to attend school within the district. If you have moved to Ellensburg School District, please complete the New Student Registration.

    Choice Transfer Request

    *The Non-Resident Application for enrollment must be submitted and approved annually.
